Adding Paypal to a Client’s Website[edit]

Create 3 pages on client’s website:[edit]

  1. Paypal page – where button will be placed (paypal.htm)
  2. Cancel payment page – ‘Your payment has been cancelled’ (payp_cancel.htm)
  3. Successful payment page – ‘Your payment was successful’ (payp_thankyou.htm)

Note: to see copy used for these pages see below.

After logging in to client’s Paypal account go to Merchant Services tab. Click on Create Buttons (top left) – select 'Buy Now' on next page

Step 1 – Choose button type details[edit]

  • Button type = “buy now”
  • Item name = “invoice” or whatever client wants
  • Item ID = blank
  • Under "Customize button" section click on "customize text or appearance" link.
  • Leave everything as default items except in drop down box “Select Button Text” choose “Pay Now”

Step 2 – Customize Advance Features[edit]

  • Choose YES for Customer adding special instructions
  • Choose NO for Shipping address
  • Check Take customer to page after cancellation
  • Link should go to page created (see Mike Thomas’ site for ex. html code for this page)
  • Page name: http://www.payp_cancel.htm
  • Check Take customer to successful checkout page
  • Link should go to page created (see Mike Thomas’ site for ex. html code for this page) Page name: http://www.payp_thankyou.htm
  • Skip Advanced Variables
  • Click Create Button
  • Copy and paste html code into Paypal page created on client’s site


Cancel page copy/code:[edit]

Your payment has been cancelled.
